About Luke
Teaching is one of my passions, and I love it. I've been a recording and performing musician for 24 years, and I've taught for 18 years, the last 10 of them privately in London.
I have a degree in music composition and education, and I also speak Spanish. Every student is different, so I tailor each lesson to their needs, abilities and personality, whether they’re four or forty-four. My aim is to grow their musical taste, their ear and, most of all, their creativity.
What I teach
Piano and guitar, from complete beginners to advanced players, plus bass guitar, oboe, and composition and songwriting, which I studied at university. I prepare students for ABRSM, RSL and Trinity exams at any grade. Teenagers and adults can also have lessons online on Google Meet.
Children who need a different approach
I have experience teaching neurodivergent children, and children who are anxious or didn’t click with a previous teacher. I adapt the pace and approach until they feel comfortable and confident.
Families
I especially love teaching brothers and sisters. They can have their lessons back to back in one visit, and they can play duets and jam together. Families with two or more children get priority on my waiting list. At the end of a lesson we can record a short practice video on your phone, or I can send you one afterwards.
Trust and discretion
I hold an Enhanced DBS certificate, and I can give references from parents and students. I never name the families I teach, and I’m happy to sign an NDA. You can watch me play on Instagram.
